Eastern Washington stops Portland State 65-51

Tremayne Johnson came off the bench to score 20 points, and Eastern Washington's torrid second half carried the Eagles past Portland State 65-51 on Thursday night.

Kevin Winford had 12 points and Laron Griffin and Glen Dean added 10 each for the Eagles (6-14, 3-5 Big Sky), who shot 60 percent from the floor in the second half after managing less than 29 percent in the first half. Charles Odum scored 14 points and Paul Guede 10 for the Vikings (10-10, 3-5).

With Eastern Washington trailing 29-24 early in the second half, Cliff Colimon drilled a 3-pointer that ignited an 18-6 run that gave the Eagles a 42-35 lead with 10:47 left. Winford's back-to-back 3-pointers pushed the Eastern Washington lead to 48-37 with 9:32 left.

Portland State, which never got closer than eight after that, was held to just 37 percent from the floor.
