Former University of Florida running back Adam Lane has transferred to Eastern Kentucky University and will be eligible to play immediately for the FCS program.

Lane, the MVP of the 2015 Birmingham Bowl, is a redshirt sophomore with three seasons of eligibility remaining.

The 5-foot-7, 224-pounder from Winter Haven, Florida, finished fourth in rushing for the Gators last season with 181 yards on 24 carries. Much of that output came in a 28-20 win over East Carolina in the Birmingham Bowl, where he rushed for 109 yards and a touchdown on 16 carries.

He also rushed for 60 yards on five carries in the Gators' 52-3 victory over Eastern Kentucky last Nov. 22.

Lane had been third on Florida's depth chart heading into the 2015 season.

Eastern Kentucky features another SEC transfer running back in Dy'Shawn Mobley, the 2014 Ohio Valley Conference offensive player of the year by way of the University of Kentucky.

The Colonels, who finished 9-4 last season after making the FCS playoffs, open Sept. 4 at home against Valparaiso.
