With legendary coach Bob Spoo retiring after 25 seasons, Eastern Illinois has taken steps to find the program's next head coach.

On Monday, Baylor assistant coach/special teams coordinator Dino Babers, Boise State assistant coach/special teams coordinator Jeff Choate, Tulane interim head coach Mark Hutson and Pittsburgh assistant coach/special teams coordinator Randall McCray were announced as the four finalists for the position.

Babers (1987), Choate (2005) and Hutson (2003-2006) have all been on Spoo's staff at one point in their coaching careers. McCray, who never coached with Spoo, has experience in the Ohio Valley Conference, serving stints at Murray State (1997-99) and Illinois State (2000-2002).

The on-campus interviews begin Friday with McCray.

Eastern Illinois finished 2-9 in Spoo's final season.
