Dynamo Dresden banned from German Cup
Dresden, Germany – Bundesliga 2 side Dynamo Dresden has been banned from next season's German Pokal Cup after its fans caused incidents at a recent match at Borussia Dortmund leading to numerous injuries.
Violence erupted in a 2-0 loss against Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund in October, and two policemen were among those injured. Numerous arrests were also made.
"This verdict is designed to send out a strong signal ... If we let things lie then it would only be a matter of time until someone dies," DFB official Hans E. Lorenz said.
Dynamo Dresden, in the former East Germany, is the first team to be kicked out of the competition.
