Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Gibson has been placed on injured reserve with a left knee injury, ending his first season with the team.

Gibson was hurt in the first half of Sunday's loss at New England. The slot receiver finished with 30 catches for 326 yards and three touchdowns.

Rishard Matthews, who has eight catches this year, will likely assume Gibson's role in the Dolphins' sputtering offense. They'll try to snap a four-game losing streak Thursday against Cincinnati.

Gibson signed a $9.78 million, three-year contract with Miami as a free agent last offseason.
