The Los Angeles Dodgers signed catcher year contract, the club announced Tuesday.

The deal includes a club option for the 2013 season.

Treanor, 35, began last season with the Kansas City Royals and was shipped to the Texas Rangers at the trade deadline.

In 72 games played last season -- 64 starts -- Treanor batted .214 with three home runs and 22 RBI.

The eight-year pro has also been a backstop for the Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Royals and Rangers.

He is a .225 career hitter with 16 home runs and 119 RBI.
