The Los Angeles Dodgers placed infielder Mark Ellis on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained right quadriceps.

The move is retroactive to April 27.

Ellis had hit safely in his last six games prior to the injury and is hitting .342 with two homers and 11 RBI over 20 games this season.

The team also reinstated pitcher Chris Capuano from the disabled list. The left-hander, who had been on the DL since April 17 with a left calf strain, compiled a 0-1 record this season over three appearances (one start) with a 9.64 earned run average.
