(SportsNetwork.com) - Roberto Hernandez makes his fourth start for the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday when they begin a brief two-game series with the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
Hernandez has gone 1-1 in his first three starts with the team, but absorbed the loss his last time out to San Diego. Hernandez gave up four runs (3 earned) and eight hits in five innings of that one, dropping him to 7-9 overall on the year to go along with a 3.78 ERA.
He had surrendered just three runs in 12 innings of his first two starts with the Dodgers since being acquired from Philadelphia.
"I didn't feel it was my best," Hernandez said. "I got behind in the count. I just wasn't able to get in a rhythm. I was getting outside of the zone a little bit."
Hernandez has faced the D-backs three times and is 2-1 against them with a 3.27 ERA.
Los Angeles will be trying to bounce back on Tuesday after it was denied a three-game sweep over the New York Mets on Sunday thanks to an 11-3 drubbing in the finale at Dodger Stadium. Adrian Gonzalez went 3-for-3 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored and Dee Gordon drove in a run with a triple for Los Angeles, which had its three-game win streak come to an end.
Kevin Correia (2-1) gave up seven runs -- five earned -- on seven hits over three frames in defeat.
"Kevin wasn't too good," Dodgers manager Don Mattingly said. "We hurt ourselves and it cost us a couple of runs.
Arizona, meanwhile, comes in having lost seven of nine, but did take two of three from San Diego over the weekend. The D-backs, though, couldn't complete the sweep on Sunday and fell, 7-4.
Rookie Chase Anderson (7-6) allowed five runs -- four earned -- on six hits in five innings for Arizona, which is 18 1/2 games back of the Dodgers in NL West.
"I just lost feel in that fifth inning, I can't really tell you why," Anderson said.
Getting the call for Arizona on Tuesday will be righty Trevor Cahill, who has thrived since a stint in the minors. Cahill has gone 2-0 in four August starts and has allowed two runs or less in each outing.
"I've been able to throw offspeed pitches for strikes," said Cahill, who is 3-8 on the year with a 4.54 ERA. "I think my sinker command isn't where I want it to be at, but if I fall behind, I feel like I can go to three different pitches, which helps out a lot."
Cahill could continue to impress on Tuesday, as he is 6-2 in 14 games (12 starts) versus the Dodgers with a 3.01 ERA.
Los Angeles has won 10 of its 14 matchups with the Diamondbacks this season.
