Rome, Italy (SportsNetwork.com) - Rising Bulgarian star Grigor Dimitrov moved on, while 13th-seeded Italian Fabio Fognini was a first-round upset victim Monday at the $4 million Italian Masters.
The 12th-seeded Dimitrov came from behind to beat France's Edouard Roger- Vasselin 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, while Czech slugger Lukas Rosol drove out Fognini in easy 6-3, 6-2 fashion at Foro Italico.
Meanwhile, former top-10 Frenchman Gilles Simon grounded Italian Filippo Volandri 6-2, 6-3 and Spaniard Marcel Granollers dismissed fellow countryman Feliciano Lopez 7-5, 6-1 on Day 2.
