Newark, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New Jersey Devils signed free agent forward Martin Havlat to a one-year deal on Tuesday.

As per club policy, New Jersey did not release terms of the deal, but reports revealed that Havlat agreed to a one-year, $1.5 million contract with the Devils. The signing comes on the heels of New Jersey's five-year, $25 million agreement with free agent Mike Cammalleri on Tuesday.

New Jersey hopes the new signees can help improve an offense which ranked 27th in the NHL in scoring (2.40 goals per game) during the 2013-14 season.

Havlat, 33, has recorded 579 points on 236 goals and 343 assists over 748 career games, but the veteran Czech winger also has a history of injuries. He only played in 48 contests for San Jose last season and posted 12 goals and 10 assists in those games.
