The New Jersey Devils acquired defenseman round pick in 2012.

The 30-year-old Foster totaled one goal and one assist in nine games this season with the Ducks -- a year that did not get underway for the Ontario native until late October due to thigh issues that arose from surgery several years ago to repair a broken left leg.

New Jersey will be the fifth stop in less than four seasons for Foster, who totaled eight goals and 22 points in 74 games with Edmonton a year ago.

A deal was necessary since New Jersey is missing Andy Greene for the next four weeks due to a non-displaced toe fracture and Anton Volchenkov -- who was placed on injured reserve earlier in the day -- to an undisclosed hand issue.

Pelley went scoreless in seven games for the Devils this season, while Fraser failed to produce a point in four appearances thus far.
