Lakeland, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Tigers shortstop Jose Iglesias will begin the 2014 season on the disabled list.

The club made the announcement on Sunday, adding that the 24-year-old is scheduled to see foot and ankle specialist Dr. Thomas Clanton in Colorado on Tuesday.

According to a report Saturday on Mlive.com, Iglesias has been bothered by a shin injury which has kept him out of action for the last two weeks.

Iglesias, who was dealt from the Red Sox to the Tigers on July 30, hit .303 with three homers, 16 doubles and 29 RBI over 109 games.
