San Diego, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Odrisamer Despaigne pitched seven strong innings to lead the San Diego Padres to a 5-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in the second of a three-game set.

Despaigne (1-0) allowed just one run on two hits with a pair of walks and three strikeouts for the Padres, who have won four of their last five.

Justin Upton hit a solo home run and scored twice while Matt Kemp had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run in the win.

Jeremy Hellickson (0-2) took the loss as he was tagged for five runs on seven hits with three walks and six strikeouts in 6 2/3 innings for the Diamondbacks, who had won three of four coming in. Mark Trumbo drove in their only run.

San Diego jumped on top in the first with three runs. Wil Myers led off with a double and moved to third on a Yangervis Solarte single. Kemp them plated a run with a fielder's choice. Upton worked a walk before a Derek Norris double scored Kemp. Yonder Alonso followed with a run-scoring groundout for a 3-0 lead.

The Padres left the bases loaded in the third and the Diamondbacks got on board in the fourth as David Peralta was hit by a pitch and Trumbo followed with a double to center to make it a 3-1 game.

Upton's second home run of the season came with two outs in the fifth for a 4-1 contest.

In the seventh, Kemp tripled with two outs and scored on a wild pitch from Randall Delgado.

Joaquin Benoit worked a scoreless eighth, while Dale Thayer did the same in the ninth to close the game.
