Siem De Jong found the back of the net once in each half as Ajax returned to the top of the Eredivisie with a 3-2 win at AZ Alkmaar on Sunday.

Ajax entered the contest two points back of PSV Eindhoven after PSV's 2-0 win against RKC Waalwijk on Saturday.

But the visitors jumped out to a 2-0 halftime lead with goals from De Jong and Daley Blind.

Markus Henriksen scored early in the second half to pull AZ to within a goal, but De Jong answered back just before the hour mark for Ajax to put his side up 3-1.

Jozy Altidore notched his 18th goal 15 minutes from time for the home side, but Ajax held out to move one point clear at the top of the league.

Feyenoord kept pace with a win of its own as Darryl Janmaat scored the winning goal in the 61st minute of a 2-1 triumph over Utrecht, keeping the Rotterdam outfit within a point of Ajax.

Last-place Willem II sustained a 4-0 defeat at NAC, which scored three times in the final 20 minutes, while Twente claimed a 3-0 win at Groningen to maintain a place in the top five.
