The Chicago Cubs have dismissed vice president of player personnel Oneri Fleita.

Fleita had been with the organization in various roles since 1995 and had been in his most recent position since October 2007.

"All of us with the Cubs owe Oneri a debt of gratitude for his tremendous service to the organization over many years," said Cubs president of baseball operations Theo Epstein. "Oneri has impacted countless people here in a positive way, and we wish him well as he continues his career elsewhere."

Fleita was also a minor league manager, scout, coordinator of Latin American operations and director of the club's minor league system during his tenure with the team. He also spent seven years in the Baltimore organization as a player, coach and manager before joining the Cubs.
