Irving, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was fined by the team but not suspended after his shoplifting arrest Monday night.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Randle will play in Sunday's NFC East clash against the New York Giants.

"The actions we're going to take are to fine him significantly and move forward," Garrett said Wednesday.

The coach said Randle "took full responsibility" for the arrest.

"There were a lot of circumstances that were surrounding the situation but there are no excuses, no explanations for this," Garrett said. "He made a poor decision. He recognizes that. As poor a decision as he's ever made in his life. There are consequences to that. We made that abundantly clear."

The Frisco Police Department said it was dispatched to a Dillard's department store on a shoplifting call Monday night and made contact with Randle, who had been detained by store security.

Police determined Randle had removed items -- reportedly cologne and underwear -- without purchasing them and he was arrested on a class B misdemeanor charge of theft between $50 and $500.

Randle was booked in the Frisco City Jail and later released on bond.

A day earlier, the second-year backup rushed for 52 yards on just five carries in a win over Seattle. He has gained 277 yards on 70 carries in 19 games for the Cowboys, scoring two touchdowns.
