Everton defender Seamus Coleman signed a new five-and-a-half year contract on Monday that ties him to the club until the summer of 2018.

Since joining the Toffees from Sligo in 2009, Coleman has worked his way into the first-team plans of manager David Moyes to start 10 games in the Premier League this season.

"I'm over the moon. I'm glad to get it all done and to sign for so long at a club like Everton is a great achievement -- I want to be here for as long as possible," Coleman told evertontv.

The 24-year-old made 24 league starts last season for Everton, and he is currently out with a hamstring problem after appearing in 12 of Everton's first 14 league contests this term.
