Lazio announced on Monday that the club has signed defender Michael Ciani from Bordeaux.

The France international signed with Bordeaux in 2009 on a four-year contract and went on to make 91 appearances for the team, with his last coming in a 0-0 draw against PSG on Sunday.

Ciani told the Corriere dello Sport: "I'm happy to join Lazio because it's a big club.

"Nevertheless, I'm a little unhappy because I loved the squad we had at Bordeaux. There was a winning atmosphere there."

The 28-year-old has proven to be a durable player with Bordeaux, starting at least 27 games in Ligue 1 in each of his three seasons, and he joins a Lazio side that opened its Serie A campaign with a 1-0 win at Atalanta.
