The Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday placed wide receiver Dwayne Bowe on injured reserve.

Bowe hurt his ribs in last week's game at Cleveland. He caught 59 passes for 801 yards and three touchdowns in 13 games this season.

The 28-year-old will become a free agent at the end of the season. He played on a one-year, $9.2 million contract this season as the Chiefs' franchise player.

Bowe, a first-round draft pick in 2007, has caught 415 passes for 5,728 yards and 39 touchdowns in 88 career games with the Chiefs.

Kansas City also promoted offensive lineman Rich Ranglin to the 53-man roster from the practice squad.
