Aberdeen, Scotland (SportsNetwork.com) - Celtic moved back to the top of the Scottish Premier League table on Sunday after claiming a 2-1 victory over Aberdeen at the Pittodrie Stadium.

Coming off a 1-1 draw with Romanian side Astra in the Europa League in mid week, the defending Scottish champions entered Sunday's clash riding an impressive six-match unbeaten streak across all competitions.

But the home side opened the scoring after 27 minutes through Adam Rooney. 11 minutes later Celtic pulled back an equalizer through Stefan Johansen.

Things then became more difficult for the champions when Scott Brown was shown a second yellow card and sent off, reducing the visitors to 10 men for the final eight minutes of play.

Despite going down a man, Celtic pulled out a late winner when Virgil van Dijk buried his first goal of the season in stoppage time to hand Celtic all three points.

The result lifts the Hoops back to the top of the table with 26 points, ahead of second-place Inverness on goal difference. Aberdeen, meanwhile, remains in fifth place with 22 points.
