The St. Louis Cardinals activated first baseman Matt Adams from the 15-day disabled list prior to Tuesday's game against the Chicago Cubs.

Adams has not played since April 21 due to a strained right oblique. The rookie had gotten off to an excellent start prior to the injury, batting .542 (13-for-24) with three home runs and eight RBI in just eight games.

The Cardinals had already cleared space on the 25-man roster for Adams after optioning infielder Jermaine Curtis to Triple-A Memphis following Sunday's 10-1 win at Milwaukee.
