Cardinals' Mathieu to have thumb surgery

Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu will have surgery to repair his broken left thumb on Wednesday and will miss a couple weeks.

The Cardinals said Tuesday that Mathieu will have a pin inserted in the thumb and will play with it in a cast when he returns.

Mathieu was injured in Sunday's 29-18 loss at Atlanta. He has registered 29 tackles and one interception this season.
