The Washington Capitals re-signed defenseman Jack Hillen on Tuesday to a two-year contract extension worth $1.4 million.

Hillen will make $700,000 for both years of the new pact. He has recorded one assist in 10 games for the Caps this season after signing a one-year deal with the club last July.

The 27-year-old Minnesota native also played parts of four seasons with the New York Islanders and spent last season with the Nashville Predators, totaling 10 goals and 57 points in 240 NHL contests.
