The Washington Capitals acquired center Mike Ribeiro from the Dallas Stars in exchange for center Cody Eakin and a 2012 second-round pick on Friday.

Ribeiro, 32, has spent the last six seasons with the Stars. Last year, he led all Dallas skaters with 45 assists in addition to netting 18 goals over 74 games.

In his 12-year career with Dallas and his hometown Montreal Canadiens, Ribeiro has scored 173 goals and dished out 387 assists in 737 games.

The 21-year-old Eakin appeared in 30 games with the Capitals last season, scoring four goals and eight points.
