Dover, DE (SportsNetwork.com) - Kyle Busch is 4-0 in the Camping World Truck Series in 2014 after putting on another dominating performance on Friday at Dover International Speedway.
Busch, who is a regular in the Sprint Cup Series, started on the pole and led 150 of 200 laps around this 1-mile, concrete-surfaced track.
While Busch was on pit road during a round of green-flag stops on lap 74, Brennan Newberry spun out and hit the wall along the frontstretch, creating the fourth of seven cautions in this race. Matt Crafton, the defending truck champion, grabbed the lead when Busch pitted and then held it for the restart on lap 82.
Crafton ran in front for a total of 46 laps before Busch, who had fallen back to eighth for the restart, took over the top spot on lap 121.
Busch relinquished the lead again during a late-race round of pit stops under caution when Brandon Jones opted not to pit. Jones led the way for the restart with 37 laps to go, but Busch quickly pulled ahead of him and took command from there.
"We had a really good truck," Busch said. "[Crew chief] Eric [Phillips] and these guys [No. 51 Kyle Busch Motorsports team] have done a great job this year. I think it stems off of last year and maybe a little bit from the year before too, just trying to work on our stuff and make it faster. All of that work is paying off this year."
At age 29, Busch has scored a total of 133 wins in all three of NASCAR's national touring series -- 29 victories in Sprint Cup, a record 65 in Nationwide and 39 in trucks.
Busch now has a five-race winning streak in trucks. Busch won the 2013 season- finale at Homestead and then started this season by taking the checkered flag at Daytona before his victories at Kansas, Charlotte and Dover. He did not compete in the Martinsville race (March 30).
"It's been fun, and I've enjoyed being able to run up front and lead laps in the series," he said. "A couple of our lead competition guys like the 88 [Crafton] had trouble today, and the 29 [Blaney], we expected him to be good. He kind of came on late but was a little too late."
Busch has now won four truck races at Dover. He is the only driver with multiple victories in the series here.
Blaney passed Johnny Sauter for second with 16 laps to go, but Blaney crossed the finish line 2.123 seconds behind Busch. Sauter was third, while Jones and Joey Coulter rounded out the top-five.
Crafton had his race end 44 laps short of the finish when he made hard contact with the wall in turn 2. He had been running in second at the time of his accident. Crafton won at Martinsville and then finished second to Busch at Kansas and Charlotte. He finished 23rd at Dover.
"Something in the right-front went down, and it didn't give me any warning," Crafton said. "A couple of laps before that, I started to pick up some vibration. A lot of times you pick up rubber, and you don't know what it is. Then all of the sudden it just goes 'boom,' and you're done. It's a shame."
Timothy Peters became the new points leader after finishing 10th. Peters has only a one-point advantage over Crafton and Sauter. German Quiroga is six markers out of the lead after finishing ninth.
Busch will skip the next two truck races -- June 6 at Texas and June 14 at St. Louis -- before making his next start on June 26 at Kentucky. Erik Jones will be behind the wheel of the No. 51 Toyota at Texas and St. Louis.
