Miami, FL – Bubba Watson posted a five-under 67 on Saturday Cadillac Championship.
Watson finished 54 holes at 17-under 199 and is three ahead at the TPC Blue Monster at Doral. He began the third round with a one-shot cushion, but extended the margin thanks to his length and precise wedge play.
Justin Rose bogeyed the last hole to shoot a three-under 69 and fall out of Sunday's last group. Watson's playing partner will be reigning PGA Champion Keegan Bradley, who carded a six-under 66 to tie Rose in second at minus-14.
Peter Hanson posted a three-under 69 on Saturday and is alone in fourth at 12- under par.
World No. 1 Rory McIlroy appeared ready to threaten 59 in round three. He was nine-under through 12 holes, but bogeyed 14 and 16 to finish with a seven- under 65.
"I never thought I would stand up here and say I'm disappointed with seven- under, but today is definitely one of those days," admitted McIlroy.
The new world No. 1 vaulted into a tie for eighth at nine-under par, with, among others, six-time winner Tiger Woods.
The former No. 1 player in the world birdied two of the last three holes, including the brutal 18th, for a four-under 68.
"I felt that I had it going in there," said Woods.
