Boston, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Boston Bruins placed forward Loui Eriksson on injured reserve and recalled forward Nick Johnson from Providence of the American Hockey League on an emergency basis.

Eriksson suffered a concussion in Saturday's win over the Penguins when Pittsburgh forward Brooks Orpik delivered a questionable hit on Eriksson in the opening minutes.

The 28-year-old Eriksson missed five games with a concussion earlier this season. He has five goals and nine assists in 24 games this season.

Johnson has skated in 23 games with Providence this season, recording 11 goals and nine assists.

The Bruins also learned Tuesday that defenseman Dougie Hamilton will miss the next 2-to-4 weeks with a lower-body injury after exiting Sunday's win over Toronto in the first period.

The 20-year-old blueliner has three goals and four assists in 28 games this season.
