Browns put Fujita on IR

The Cleveland Browns placed linebacker Scott Fujita on injured reserve Saturday and signed defensive lineman Brian Sanford to the active roster from the practice squad.

Fujita hasn't played since October 7 against the New York Giants with a neck injury that could possibly end his career.

The 11-year veteran was one of the players suspended by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell for his role in the New Orleans bounty scandal and sat out the first two games of the season.

Since signing with Cleveland in 2010, he has battled through injuries and the suspension and has played in just 23 of 39 games with the team.

Over his time in the NFL, which has also included stints with Kansas City -- which drafted Fujita in the fifth round of the 2002 draft -- and Dallas, he has appeared in 143 games and made 125 starts.

Having totaled 767 tackles and 23 1/2 sacks, Fujita has also posted seven interceptions and 11 forced fumbles and won a Super Bowl with the Saints during the 2009 season.
