Browns coach Mike Pettine has no plans to bench starting quarterback Brian Hoyer for rookie Johnny Manziel following Sunday's ugly loss at Jacksonville.

Hoyer completed just 16 of 41 passes for 215 yards and threw a late interception as the Browns lost to the previously winless Jaguars. Pettine acknowledged Hoyer played poorly, but said he is not making a change, adding: "Brian is still firmly our starter."

Pettine said "we are not going to hit the panic button after one loss." Pettine says the coaching staff did not consider bringing in Manziel as a spark during the 24-6 defeat. Manziel has only been on the field for a handful of plays this season.

Hoyer dropped to 6-3 as Cleveland's starter. He missed several throws, including missing wide-open tight end Jordan Cameron in the end zone for an easy touchdown.
