Denver Broncos safety Quinton Carter has a court date on felony charges that could get him years in prison for allegedly adding $5 to craps bets after the dice already rolled at a southern Nevada casino.

Defense attorney Andrew Leavitt says the Thursday hearing will be for a North Las Vegas justice of the peace to check the status of negotiations toward resolving the case.

Carter faces three felony charges of fraudulent act in a gaming establishment.

Security officials say he was videotaped adding to three bets at the Texas Station casino.

He has apologized on Twitter for "negative attention" and said he's confident he'll be cleared.

Carter attended high school in North Las Vegas and the University of Oklahoma before starting at free safety for the Broncos in 2011.
