The Denver Broncos made Christian Ponder's stay a very, very brief one.
He lasted only two weeks before the team announced his release. It leaves the current quarterback depth chart as a true two-deep: Brock Osweiler and Trevor Siemian.
The ex-Vikings and Raiders backup was a luxury the team couldn't afford. Peyton Manning is on the mend and will command an active spot soon.
Plus, the team can pursue some safety relief with its new roster freedom. T.J. Ward, David Bruton and Omar Bolden are all dealing with injuries.
