MIAMI (Reuters) - Milwaukee pitcher Zack Greinke won his fifth consecutive decision to lead the Milwaukee Brewers to a four-game sweep of the Florida Marlins with a 7-2 victory on Monday.
Greinke, the 2009 American League Cy Young winner who was traded from Kansas City to Milwaukee in the off-season, allowed two runs over seven innings and improved to 5-1 on the year.
"It was a good outing," Greinke told reporters. "I felt real good late in the game. We played great and had some nice plays in the field."
He got plenty of offensive support from slugger Prince Fielder, who smashed a three-run home run to give the Brewers a 4-1 lead in the third inning and finished the game with four RBIs.
Milwaukee scored two more runs in the fourth and one in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Florida starter Javier Vazquez was tagged with the loss after giving up six runs in four innings. The Marlins (31-27) lost their fifth successive game overall.
Omar Infante and Logan Morrison each had three hits for Florida but the home team could not deliver when trying to bring runners home.
The Marlins recently put former batting champion Hanley Ramirez on the disabled list with a back injury.
Milwaukee (34-26) have compiled a 20-6 record over the past month to move within a game and a half of National League Central leaders St Louis.
"To come on this road trip and play well, especially here against a great team, is a big confidence booster for us," Fielder said.
