Munich, Germany (SportsNetwork.com) - Werder Bremen will attempt to snap its seven-game winless streak to start the season on Saturday, but the club faces the unenviable task of traveling to the Allianz Arena to face league-leaders Bayern Munich
The two sides square off at opposite ends of the table with Bayern holding a four-point lead at the Bundesliga summit, while Bremen is currently propping up the table having collected just four points from its first seven games.
Bremen has managed to score 10 goals so far, which places the club in the middle of the league. But keeping them out has been a problem for Robin Dutt's men, who have shipped the most goals in the Bundesliga with 16.
Things don't figure to get much better on Saturday for Bremen as the club takes on the top scoring team in the league in Bayern, while Bremen hasn't won an away game since March.
All of which figures to add up to three more points for Bayern, which will leave the rest of the league scrambling to keep up.
Hoffenheim and Monchengladbach are currently the two closest pursuers with both sides sitting four points adrift.
Monchengladbach faces the tougher match this weekend with a trip to eighth- place Hannover, while Hoffenheim travels to second-from-the-bottom Hamburg, which should at least be in good spirits after claiming a 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund last time out under new manager Josef Zinnbauer.
Schalke will be led by a new man for the first time on Saturday when the club welcomes Hertha Berlin to Gelsenkirchen.
The team will be under the direction of former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo, who took over for Jens Keller last week, and Di Matteo will be charged with helping the team improve upon its current position in 11th place.
Borussia Dortmund has endured a terrible start to the campaign having fallen 10 points back of Bayern so early in the season. But manager Jurgen Klopp should get some good news with the possible return of a handful of key players as llkay Gundogan, Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Sebastian Kehl could all be in contention to return to the lineup for Saturday's match with Cologne.
Other games in the Bundesliga this weekend see Mainz host Augsburg, Wolfsburg visit Freiburg, Stuttgart tangle with Bayer Leverkusen and Paderborn host Eintracht.
