The Atlanta Braves activated pitcher Tim Hudson from the 15-day disabled list to start Sunday's home game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Hudson, 36, missed most of the season's first month after undergoing back surgery in November.

The veteran righty encountered no setbacks while making four rehabilitation starts this spring. He went 16-10 with a 3.22 ERA in 33 starts for the Braves last season.

To make room for Hudson, the Braves optioned reliever Cory Gearrin to Triple-A Gwinnett. The right-hander was recalled on Tuesday and did not appear in a game.
