Bochy: 'This is the last thing we wanted to happen'

For the second-straight night, Giants manager Bruce Bochy's frustration boiled over into an ejection. For the third straight-night, the Giants lost to the Dodgers by a one-run margin in the midst of the NL West pennant race.

"This is the last thing we wanted to happen, but it happened," Bochy said. "We've never done anything the easy way, anyway."

Getting swept, nonetheless by one's division rival, is never an enthralling experience, particularly so in the final month of the season as the Giants try to catch the Dodgers in the NL West standings.

While San Francisco entered the series in Los Angeles 3 ½ games back in the division despite losing a series to the St. Louis Cardinals at home, it now finds itself at a 6-1/2 game deficit in the division after the head-to-head sweep.

Nonetheless, the Giants remain optimistic that they can chip away at the Dodgers' lead in the division and secure a playoff bid.

"It's obviously going to be tough, being 6 ½ back, but I don't think anybody in this locker room feels we're out of it by any means," first baseman Brandon Belt said.
