Bobrovsky to be in net for 12th straight game tonight

PHILADELPHIA -- Flyers coach Peter Laviolette is going back to the well and will use rookie goalie Sergei Bobrovsky for a 12th straight game when Philadelphia hosts Tampa Bay on Thursday (7 p.m. ET, NHLN-US) at Wells Fargo Center.

Bobrovsky went 10 straight starts without a regulation loss (9-0-1) prior to Tuesday's 3-0 loss in Montreal. Laviolette gave the Flyers a complete day off Wednesday, so he has no concerns that fatigue could be a factor now for the 22-year-old Russian, who owns an 11-3-1 record, 2.07 goals-against average and .932 save percentage.

"I talked to 'Bob' (Wednesday) and he said he felt pretty good," Laviolette said. "You always worry about fatigue with all of our players … but we had a day off (Wednesday), a break and we come in here fresh."

No one would have been shocked had Laviolette turned to backup Brian Boucher for Thursday's game. He hasn't played since Oct. 25, which until Tuesday was the last time the Flyers had lost in regulation.

"Any time you're talking about players and personnel, somebody coming out of the lineup, no decisions are ever easy or taken lightly," Laviolette said. "The bottom line is 'Bob,' since he's gotten here, his numbers are terrific, some of the best in the National Hockey League. We're coming off a day off, he's a young kid, in shape and I'm not real concerned about it."

Nor is he concerned about the state of his team after just one loss. He said he senses an extra jump in his players to get back out on the ice Thursday because of that loss.

"You put together a win streak but you get on the plane after a loss and you feel that same nasty feeling in the pit (of your stomach)," Laviolette said. "We were frustrated and disappointed, and really the only way to right that is to go back out, go to work and swing again. Tonight we get a chance again to play some hockey and right a wrong."
