Bobby Labonte suffered three broken ribs after being involved in an accident while riding his bicycle near his home in Trinity, North Carolina, on Wednesday.

Labonte was transported to a local hospital where he was diagnosed and treated. He is being held overnight for observation. There are no other injuries.

Labonte will not race in this Sunday's AdvoCare 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Mike Bliss will replace him in the No. 51 Phoenix Racing car.

The 2000 Sprint Cup Series champion, Labonte ran in the No. 47 car for JTG Daugherty Racing until June 16 at Michigan, when he raced in the No. 51 car. He returned to JTG the following week, but was then replaced by A.J. Allmendinger on June 30 at Kentucky, ending his streak of consecutive starts at 704.
