Blues ship Lapierre to Penguins

St. Louis, MO ( - In a move made to accommodate two players in need of new surroundings, the St. Louis Blues sent forward Maxim Lapierre to the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for forward Marcel Goc.

Lapierre, who had been signed to a two-year contract in July of 2013, totaled nine points in 45 games (2G, 7A) this season.

The 10-year veteran has totaled 65 goals and 72 assists in 579 games with Montreal, Anaheim, Vancouver and the Blues.

"We want to thank Max and his family for their dedication to the Blues organization. Max is a true professional and was a valued member of our team. We wish him the best in the future," said St. Louis GM Doug Armstrong.

Goc had been struggling to find ice time in his first full season in Pittsburgh, collecting just six points (2G, 4A) in 43 games.

The native of Germany leaves the Steel City with two goals and six assists over 55 games. Since arriving in North America in 2005, he has picked up 74 goals and 111 assists in 605 contests.
