Toronto, ON – The Toronto Blue Jays have claimed outfielder DeWayne Wise off waivers from the Florida Marlins.
The left-handed hitter posted a .239 batting average with five RBI in 49 games for the Marlins this season.
Wise returns to Toronto for a third time during his MLB career. In 52 games last season with the club, he hit .250 with three home runs and 14 RBI.
Over 425 career games with Toronto, Atlanta, Cincinnati, the Chicago White Sox, and Florida, Wise holds a .223 batting average with 20 home runs and 80 RBI.
Wise is scheduled to report to the Blue Jays on Saturday at which time a corresponding move will occur.
