TORONTO (Reuters) - The Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics swapped pitchers, with the A's sending Daniel Farquhar north for former first-round pick David Purcey, the two clubs said Monday.
Farquhar returns to Toronto after the Blue Jays traded the right-handed prospect last year in a deal to acquire outfielder Rajai Davis.
Purcey, Toronto's first-round selection in 2004, made five relief appearances for the Blue Jays this season, where the big left-hander posted a whopping 11.57 ERA while allowing three runs over 2 1/3 innings pitched.
