Manchester, England (SportsNetwork.com) - Manchester United completed the signing of Netherlands international Daley Blind from Ajax on Monday for a fee of $23 million.
Blind's move to United has been the subject of rumors for weeks, but the club has finally been able to snap up the 24-year-old, who represented the Netherlands at the World Cup this summer and who will now be reunited with manager Louis van Gaal.
At Ajax, Blind was used as defensive midfielder, but was deployed as a left wing back by Van Gaal for the Dutch at the World Cup.
Blind becomes the fifth big signing by United this summer, joining midfielder Ander Herrera, left back Luke Shaw, defender Marcos Rojo and Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria, who was signed for a British record fee of $99 million.
