Getafe, Spain (SportsNetwork.com) - Athletic Bilbao moved into the top five in La Liga on Monday as Aymeric Laporte's eighth-minute goal was enough for a 1-0 win at Getafe.

The two sides entered the contest level on 16 points but Bilbao started quickly from a set piece as Markel Susaeta's cross picked out Laporte in front of goal, allowing the defender to head the ball past goalkeeper Miguel Moya from six yards.

Getafe had a great chance to equalize on the stroke of halftime when Bilbao's Carlos Gurpegi brought down Adrian Colunga inside the penalty area.

Diego Castro stepped to the spot for Getafe, but his shot was saved at the bottom right corner by goalkeeper Gorka Iraizoz.

Bilbao was content to sit back and defend in the second half and the visitors held out to claim the victory, snapping Getafe's four-match winning streak.
