Paulo Bento signed a new deal to remain coach of Portugal's national team through the 2014 World Cup on Thursday.

The 42-year-old Bento replaced Carlos Queiroz in September 2010, and his old deal was set to expire after the Euro 2012 championships. Bento led Portugal through qualifying, including a playoff win over Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Portugal opens its Euro tournament against Germany on June 9, and also plays Denmark and the Netherlands in Group B. Bento will named his 23-man roster May 14.
