Bengals Maualuga fined by the league for drunken-driving

CINCINNATI (Reuters) - Cincinnati Bengals linebacker Rey Maualuga has been fined two game checks and will forfeit a portion of his signing bonus for a drunken-driving conviction, the NFL said Tuesday in a statement.

Maualuga pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in February after crashing his car in Covington, Kentucky. He will not face a suspension by the NFL.

Heading into his second year with the Bengals, Maualuga recorded 63 tackles and helped the team reach the postseason in his rookie campaign.

Cincinnati will open the regular season against the New England Patriots on September 12.
