St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran is in the starting lineup for Thursday's Game 2 of the World Series.

Beltran, who exited Game 1 with a right rib contusion shortly after making a grand-slam saving catch in the second inning, will be back in right field and bat second as the Cardinals attempt to even the series with the Boston Red Sox.

With the Cardinals already trailing the Red Sox 4-0 in the opener, Beltran went back on David Ortiz's deep fly ball to right field. He made the catch at the wall, but not before running into it and coming up in pain.

Beltran, who was playing in his first World Series game, was pulled for Jon Jay the next inning. Jay went to center field and Shane Robinson moved over to right.

Cardinals manager Mike Matheny will start Daniel Descalso at shortstop in place of Pete Kozma, who had two errors in St. Louis' 8-1 loss Game 1.
