Munich, Germany – Bayern Munich earned its first trophy of the season last time out, winning the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea prior to the international break.
And Pep Guardiola's team will return to league play on Saturday to face Hannover, which started the new season well and resides in the top four.
Bayern won its first three games of the season but was held to a 1-1 draw by Freiburg in its last league encounter, conceding a second-half equalizer to Nicolas Hofler after Xherdan Shaqiri had opened the scoring for the Bavarians.
Midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger is unlikely to take part in Saturday's match for the defending champions, while fellow midfielder Thiago Alcantara and defender Holger Badstuber are both out.
Despite the injuries Bayern will still be favored to win the game after scoring 11 times in two matches against Hannover last season, although winger Franck Ribery expecting a tough game.
"Whatever we did last year against Hannover, we have to forget it, it will be totally different this time, it is a new game," Ribery told FCB.tv. "And it will difficult again, for sure."
Hannover has won three of its first four games and is coming off of a 4-1 win over Mainz.
But the team could be without top goal threat Mame Biram Diouf, who picked up an ankle injury while on international duty.
Borussia Dortmund is the only team in the Bundesliga with four wins from its first four games and the team entertains Hamburg, while Bayer Leverkusen owns three wins from four games and plays host to Wolfsburg.
Mainz won its first three fixtures before a 4-1 defeat to Hannover and the team will attempt to bounce back at home against Schalke.
Freiburg will attempt to win its first game of the season when the club travels to Augsburg, Werder Bremen entertains Eintracht, Braunschweig has lost its first four games and hosts Nurnberg and Monchengladbach invades Hoffenheim.
On Friday Stuttgart claimed a 1-0 away win against Hertha Berlin behind a second-half goal from Christian Gentner.
