Munich, Germany – Mario Gomez scored a hat trick to lead 1 win over Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.
Bayern assumed control early in the game with five goals in the first 35 minutes, including two each from Gomez and Arjen Robben.
The win moves Bayern to within five points of leaders Borussia Dortmund, which was held to a 0-0 draw at Augsburg on Saturday.
Hoffenheim saw its five-game unbeaten streak come to a crashing halt as the team remains in the bottom half of the Bundesliga.
Gomez started the scoring barrage after five minutes when he scored on a rebound from Thomas Muller's shot before Robben converted from the penalty spot to double the lead.
Toni Kroos was given space to score the third goal from 20 yards and Robben tallied his second of the contest shortly before the half-hour mark.
Gomez headed in a cross from Franck Ribery to make it 5-0 at halftime, and he completed his hat trick a few minutes after the break, with Ribery finding the net himself in the 58th.
The lone blemish came five minutes from time when Luis Gustavo scored an own goal to spoil the clean sheet.
Augsburg 0, Borussia Dortmund 0

Augsburg moves out of the relegation zone on goal difference after collecting a point, while Dortmund is five clear of second-place Bayern Munich.
Dortmund found few scoring chances available against a stubborn Augsburg side, with the best one in the first 45 minutes coming shortly before the break when Robert Lewandowski's header was cleared off the goal line by Sebastian Langkamp.
The hosts continued to frustrate Dortmund after halftime, but needed a great diving stop from goalkeeper Simon Jentzsch to prevent Kevin Grosskreutz from breaking the deadlock.
Cologne 1, Hertha Berlin 0
Cologne, Germany - Cologne snapped a four-game winless streak thanks to a first-half goal from Christian Clemens on Saturday that gave the club a 1-0 victory at home against Hertha Berlin.
The lone goal of the contest arrived in the 36th minute when Clemens fired a shot past Hertha goalkeeper Thomas Kraft from just inside the penalty area.
However, the hosts were reduced to 10 men midway through the second half when Mato Jajalo was sent off for a poor challenge on Levan Kobiashvili.
Both teams then had a man see red 10 minutes later as Kobiashvili picked up a second yellow card while Cologne's Lukas Podolski also received his marching orders during the incident.
Hertha nearly claimed a point in the final minutes but a shot from Adrian Ramos struck the post.
Cologne moves six points clear of the relegation zone with Hertha suffering its seventh defeat in eight games to move into the bottom three.

Mainz, Germany - Nurnberg saw its three-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday at Mainz as the club sustained a 2-1 defeat.
Nicolai Muller scored in the opening minute for the home side and Mohamed Zidan doubled the advantage with a well-taken free kick that struck the inside of the post and found the net.
Daniel Didavi pulled a goal back for Nurnberg in the 64th minute when his deflected effort found its way past goalkeeper Christian Wetklo.
Mainz had to play out the final six minutes of the match with 10 men when Adam Szalai received a second yellow card for diving, but his teammates were able to hold on for all three points.
Monchengladbach 0, Freiburg 0
Monchengladbach, Germany - Monchengladbach fell three points behind second- place Bayern Munich after being held to a 0-0 draw at home by second-from-the- bottom Freiburg.
Monchengladbach had the majority of the possession in the first half but was fortunate not to fall behind as Tony Jantschke redirected a corner kick off his own crossbar.
Freiburg's net came under heavy pressure in the final 10 minutes but goalkeeper Oliver Baumann produced a good save on Marco Reus before coming up with an even better one to keep out Filip Daems.
Wolfsburg 3, Bayer Leverkusen 2
Wolfsburg, Germany - Wolfsburg returned to the win column for the first time in four games on Saturday, claiming a 3-2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Volkswagen Arena.
A goal after three minutes from Stefan Kiessling handed the visitors the lead, but his effort was canceled out before halftime against the run of play by a header from Patrick Helmes, who finished off Makoto Hasebe's cross.
Ashkan Dejagah put Wolves into the lead just before halftime when he scored from a tight angle, and his cross just after the hour mark was turned into his own net by Leverkusen's Michal Kadlec, making it 3-1 to the hosts.
Eren Derdiyok pulled a goal back in stoppage time for Leverkusen, which saw its three-game winning streak come to an end.
