MUNICH – Bundesliga champion Bayern Munich says it has reached a deal with Roma to sign Morocco defender Mehdi Benatia.
Benatia will travel to Munich soon to undergo a medical and is expected to sign a five-year contract.
Bayern says it has agreed with Roma not to disclose the terms of the deal. But Italian media reports say Roma was asking between €25 million ($32.98 million) and €30 million ($39.58 million) for the defender.
Bayern was looking for a defender after Javi Martinez tore knee ligaments, an injury that will keep him sidelined for about six months.
