Moscow, Russia (SportsNetwork.com) - Seeded players Roberto Bautista Agut and Andreas Seppi were among Monday's opening-round winners at the Kremlin Cup tennis event.
The fifth-seeded Spaniard Bautista Agut handled Russian Andrey Kuznetsov 6-3, 6-4, while the eighth-seeded Italian Seppi subdued Serb Dusan Lajovic 7-5, 6-4 on the indoor surface at Olympic Stadium. Seppi titled here two years ago.
Also on Day 1, Serb Filip Krajinovic topped Tunisian Malek Jaziri 6-4, 6-2 and Spaniard Daniel Gimeno-Traver downed Czech Jiri Vesely 7-5, 6-3.
The top seeds here are Milos Raonic and U.S. Open champion Marin Cilic. Richard Gasquet, who is not defending his title this week, beat Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin in last year's Moscow finale.
This week's winner will claim $140,750.
