YPSILANTI, Mich. (AP) Riley Neal threw for a touchdown and ran for another as Ball State recovered from an early 17-0 deficit to beat Eastern Michigan 28-17 in Mid-American Conference play on Saturday.
Neal completed 24 of 28 of his passes for 194 yards for the Cardinals (2-1, 1-0). Darian Green rushed for 164 yards on 25 carries.
With Ball State trailing 17-0 late in the second quarter, Neal led the team into Eagles territory in six plays then scrambled 41 yards for a touchdown. He scored again on the team's next possession on a 26-yard pass to Jordan Williams and the Cardinals pulled to within three, 17-14, with 38 seconds left in the first half.
James Gilbert ran for a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter to put Ball State on top for good.
Brogan Roback threw for 196 yards for the Eagles (1-2, 0-1) He was intercepted twice.
